ExxonMobil

Nominated for its generous funding of think tanks that deny EU action against climate change is needed

In the US, oil giant ExxonMobil has spent more than US$ 12 million funding climate sceptics who oppose regulations aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions. In the last few years an increasing amount has gone to European think tanks who work to influence the EU climate change debate. For example, in 2004, the Brussels-based Centre for the New Europe received $80,000 for its “Global Climate Change Education Efforts”. This paid for events with speakers such as notorious climate sceptic Fred Singer. Another anti-environmental soul-mate, the International Policy Network pocketed $115,000 from ExxonMobil. Fueling their interests with perverse ideas, Exxon paid out major donations to the US think tanks with Brussels affiliates, the International Council for Capital Formation and Tech Central Station. Both are prime movers in the attack on EU efforts to reduce greenhouse emissions.

A vote for Exxon applauds their attempts to twist scientific evidence and take thought control to new dizzying heights. Put them up with the stars on the winning podium for the ‘Worst EU Lobbying’ Award 2005.

Voters said about this nominee:

The oil industry needs to be shown as the manipulative, science-misrepresenting, life-disregarding club of greed that it is.

Exxon sucks

It is just wrong to continue to promote burning up the worlds resources and not care about the effects. because influencing decissionmakers to ignore burning up the earth is even worse than persuading them to spend money on corporate lock-in software

In my opinion it is quite remarkable, how someone can ignore the obvious reality to an extend that tremendous. Thanks for this action!

I think all of these nominees should be “honoured” this way! to make closer to the nominee running No1. also its anti enviromantal/social policies

Climate change is threatening to make the world uninhabitable. Exxon Mobil are the strongest force behind the US sabotaging all attempts to save us from a run-away greenhouse effect. They are now trying to do the same in Europe.

Climate change is important

Difficult choice, but definitely one of the worst.

ExxonMobil are in a league of theiere own when it comes to fighting against climate change and environmental legislation in general.

They are repugnant to EU values

Desinformation is some of the worst in our information age!

Anything more important than climate change?

what is more important than our planet?

You some time need to put real name behind devil.

omdat klimaat zeer belangrijk is
