European Partnership for Energy and the Environment (EPEE)
Nominated for determination to bash EU climate legislation
The ‘European Partnership for Energy and the Environment’ (EPEE) was set up by the fluorinated gases (F-gas) industry which includes producers such as DuPont and Honeywell. Based in Brussels and run by PR firm Hill & Knowlton the EPEE’s mission is to prevent EU F-gas bans. Deceptive in name and nature – the EPEE is neither particularly European nor a partnership – its strategy is to greenwash F-gases by claiming they are non-ozone depleting. But the European Partnership for Energy and the Environment fails to say that F-gases are highly potent greenhouse gases while better alternatives do exist. Their fight against science and environmental concern was translated into political success in October 2005. The European Parliament voted against proposed improvements to the F-gas regulation. This corporate bashing of legislation has resulted in a wholly inadequate EU approach to combating the emissions of highly potent greenhouse gases. We globalwarmingly recommend this ‘European Partnership’ for the Worst EU Lobbying Award 2005.

To push renewable energy is on top of the agenda, what we do not want is wrong information spreading
Weil Verbrechen gegen die Natur in meinen Augen auf lange Sicht schlimmer sind, als wirtschaftliche.
It’s impressive how well the old tactics of setting up a straw man still works. As a scientist, I am outraged by the spin of their story.
They threaten our health for their own short term selfish interest.
the importance of tackling the climate problem is second to none. We know Exxon, it’s time to get busy on other (more subtle) underminers of climate policy
Because F-gases are dangerous; lobbying production and use of such substances when good alternatives do exist is irresponsible
Unnecessary contribution to climate change
Twisting scientific evidence for one’s own purposes is always repugnant. But it is even more so when what is at stake is such an enormous problem as Climate Change. Fake &lquot;evidence&rquot; of the sort sponsored by ExxonMobil constitues a source of excuses for reluctant policy-makers.
All the activity of the Commission in the matter of energy goes against the interest of the consumer
This nominee is an example for opportunistic acting companys who follow the aim of high sales completely disregarding sustainable development.
The importance of the issue – my professional interests would dictate a vote for the “Campaign for Creativity”, which is evil, but there are issues where one should put the common good above self interest. ExxonMobil is at least not lieing about what it is!
Hard choice to make.I chose this one for intimidation of MEPs on something as important as global warming
because the name sugested something totaly diverent from the target of the organisation
Climate Change is the crucial problem for mankind
in the end our climate is the most important (but is was hardly possible to choose – I hardly knew it went sooo far!!)
very misleading name and awful goals
because they are against live
because they are against live
Corporate profit over enviroment: THUMBS DOWN
In the beginning, I thought EPEE promoted the use of weapons such as swords, the fact that épée in French means sword. I am not to keen on having people running around with swords so I was really against. But now CorporateEurope has enlightened me and I understand they promote the environment which is good. I think the environment should be protected, so thanks EPEE and you have might vote keep up the good work
